Minot State Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarship Application Required for Admitted Students. 

We offer numerous scholarships for first-year, transfer and returning students. Our competitive academic scholarships are noted below.

You may be eligible for Minot State scholarships, both academic and need based, offered through the financial aid office to new and returning students. Application deadline for Minot State General Scholarships is February 15. Apply every academic year by the deadline. FAFSA results are used to determine eligibility for need based scholarships.

Our current scholarships


MSU Undergraduate Award Programs:

New Freshman Awards-Automatic for freshman admitted to Minot State University by the February 15 deadline based on best composite ACT or combined SAT (Math + Reading) score and cumulative unweighted high school GPA. A separate application is not required. Freshman Award priority deadline is July 1.


Transfer Student Scholar Award
Scholarship Application Required for Admitted Students

A student must have a minimum of 24 and no more than 70 transferable semester hours earned credit to be eligible. The award is one-time, non-renewable. Additional scholarships may be available. Applicants must submit a completed Minot State General Scholarship application by the February 15 deadline to be considered.

GPA: 3.5-4.0 $1,500
GPA: 3.0-3.49 $1,000

Cultural Diversity Award
Scholarship Application Required for Admitted Students.

You may qualify for this financial award if you are:

  • American Indian or Alaskan Native
  • Asian American
  • Black or African American
  • Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander
  • Hispanic/Latino
  • Multiracial/Multiethnic

Eligible applicants must have a high school GPA of 2.25 or higher.

Applicants must submit a completed Minot State General Scholarship application by the February 15 deadline to be considered.

Additional Scholarships

Minot State has many scholarships available to students made possible by donors. These are awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community involvement, leadership, service and legacy.
