CONNECT event welcomes new students to MSU

To help students get acclimated to Minot State University, the Office of Enrollment Services is sponsoring CONNECT, a mandatory orientation and registration event. All students are mailed CONNECT information and registration forms once they are accepted to MSU.

The next CONNECT event for new students is scheduled Thursday, Aug. 16., at 8 a.m. Activities include touring the campus touring the campus and learning about its services including financial aid, health and counseling, tutoring and the like. Students will also purchase their parking pass, get their ID, meet with an academic adviser and complete their fall registration. The day ends with dinner and entertainment.

Minot State University is dedicated to helping students succeed, and requiring orientation for all new students (freshman and transfer) is an important first step. All students must attend the full event. Parent and family orientation is not required but highly recommended. Family members will also benefit from learning about what to expect during their student’s first year at MSU and have the opportunity to CONNECT with families of other students.

International student orientation (in addition to Thursday CONNECT session)
To address topics specific to international students, all Canadian and international students must attend an additional session Friday, Aug. 17. Some of the topics included in the international student orientation are federal immigration regulations, employment issues, introduction to American life, and United States classroom culture.
