MSU student wins Best of Show Addy
Minot State University art student Katie Kalmbach earned the top student honor from the Bismarck-Mandan Advertising Federation. Kalmbach was awarded Best of Show for her piece titled "Elliot Smith." When the announcement came, no one was more surprised than her.
"I didn’t really believe it was me at first, because I kind of just got into the whole art thing when I came to college. I didn’t really take art classes in high school, so I was like, ‘What?’ There were so many people, and I was just really shocked."
This work started as a class assignment last semester, in which students were to choose a word and use that theme to relate to a musical artist.
Bismarck-Mandan Ad-Fed’s annual awards banquet for area students and professionals was Feb. 23. Along with Kalmbach’s Best of Show and $500 cash award, MSU students took home 13 awards in categories ranging from logo to poster design.
